Exclamation Luftwaffe Verband NEWS

Barry Rosch has decided to end his running of the Verband and focus his efforts and energy on other areas of interest. I was very sad to hear this but fully undestand. Barry is looking for a club member or may I suggest several members to take over and continue this great club. I feel it would be very sad to see this end.

For my part I would be willing to invest some of my time to aid those who will take this challenge on. I have several ideas that I feel would be helpful to the membership. So if any of you Verband members are considering this please PM me!

...and Barry if your reading this good luck and THANKS!

Unhappy Re: Luftwaffe Verband NEWS

That´s sad in fact but it´s time and money consuming to run a magazine alone ( SAFO being another example) and LV is a small run private venture what makes this harder. During this year I sent some messages to Barry but got no reply. Do you know if he changed his email? I´d like to buy all magazines for 2005 to complete my collection since I hadn´t renewed my subscription.
Surely discussion boards where not only information but images are updated makes a printed version more expensive and "slow" to readers and researchers. I do not know about costs but maybe a web page, publishing all articles and a "joint venture" with TOCH (as example) to discuss corrections and aditions... Unfortunately some members do not uses computers and will miss a valuable place.

Re: Luftwaffe Verband NEWS

Hi Sergio,
here is Barry's e-mail:

barry.rosch@netscape.com

He indicated in the last Journal that all back issues are still available and he is willing to sell them off or give them to those who will continue the Verband.

It is indeed sad to see him end this. I tried to convince him otherwise but I totally understand. Having worked with him for so long it is a great loss, but maybe a gain in other areas of the research in the Luftwaffe in WW II were he may be, from now on, spending his energy on. I offered more assistance but the big problem is the administrative workload to manage such a large membership all by yourself. Unfortunately I still have to work for a living and this is just a hobby after all, so my time is limited otherwise I would certaily give it a shot.

Whoever will hopefully take over will certainly have my continued cooperation in the Verband.

Regards,

Norbert

Re: Luftwaffe Verband NEWS

Not to take away from Barry's great work, but that go it alone approach was THE problem. Barry always insisted on doing things himself. The end result was inevitable. Meanwhile Journals such as 'Cross & Cockade' and 'Over the Front' can trace their continued existence back to about 1960 because they've always been shared enterprises by the membership like with a lot of groups.

Re: Luftwaffe Verband NEWS

Great news, Andreas! On another hand, I truly hope LV will continue to be published in English, not Norvegian.

Lightbulb Re: Luftwaffe Verband NEWS

Please Keep in mind payments must remain easy to be done. Creditcards or Paypal are good ways for members outside Europe since bank transfers are expensive due taxes.

As soon as this change be taken please notify all members, active or not, since I want renew my subscription for 2006 and buy fault issues for 2005/2006. Those ones will be sold by Barry or the new team?
