Fingers crossed the publication isn't postponed again - but £40 seems a tall price considering Amazon are offering it for pre-order at £25.

"Cover prices" have gone dramatically up since Amazon et al began to offer those huge "xx % off" discounts"...What I don't get is why so many publishers have so lousy direct sales policies (=cover price + shipping).

It seems ages since Volume 1 hit the shelves and Volume 2 is long, long overdue. I sincerely hope the publishers revised date is going to be upheld and not another delay before we get our hands on it.

Regards Richard.

You could always write to Ian Allan saying that. It might help.

Re: Dive Bomber and Ground Attack Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-45 Volume 2

I asked Larry De Zeng about it early last year on another forum:
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...?f=49&t=186614
Here was his reply then:
Quote:
That will depend on Ian Allan Publishing in London. The completed Volume 2 (SGs, NSGrs, etc.) was sent to Ian Allan by Classic Publications (Robert Forsyth, Eddie Creek, et al) in early 2010 for publication in March 2010. It has been postponed three times, allegedly due to the recession, and is now supposedly scheduled for July 2012. But Creek tells us that everything is very much up in the air at Ian Allan right now as they seem to have lost interest in publishing altogether. They let their North American distribution contract expire at the end of 2010 and have never renewed it. That does not bode well. It's very disappointing because Vol. 2 contains the index for both of the Dive-Bomber and Ground Attack volumes and, moreover, has the most interesting units.
Here's hoping things have changed for the better.

Not sure what has happened with Ian Allan, but everything they have bought has gone down the drain. Just look at Midlands...

They don't even have people who can update their homepage properly anymore
Cheers

Agree completely. Two series at least were left hanging in Midland that I was hoping to see finished: RAF Coastal Command Losses and RAF Bomber Losses in the Middle East and Mediterranean. The frustrating thing is knowing they've been sitting on the manuscript for the ground attack book and there's still the chance it may never see the light of day.
Oh well I'll try to send them another email and see if I get any response.

Re: Dive Bomber and Ground Attack Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-45 Volume 2

From the Stone & Stone web site:

News from Doug Stankey and Henry L. de Zeng
7 January 2013 "We have received a clarification regarding our book, Dive-Bomber and Ground-Attack Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945, volume 2. We've been told that the book will be printed in January 2013 but it will not be available for distribution until April 2013.
"Volume 2 will cover these units:

  • SG 1 through 501
  • Er.Gr. 210.
  • SKG 10, 210.
  • Storkampfgruppen - all of the various.
  • NSGr. 1 through 30.
  • Sonderstaffel Gamringer
  • Volksturm-Nachtschlachtstaffel 1.
  • Erg.NSGr. Ostland.
  • Fuehrer der Panzerjaegerstaffel.
  • Panzerjaegerstaffel 92.
  • Panzerjaegerstaffel Bu 181.
"It will also include appendices, bibliography for both volumes, and indices for both volumes."

Did I read that right? A Volksturm unit?
