Oblt. Siegfried Schnell. Staka. 9./JG2

Can anyone confirm the exact date that Oblt. Siegfried Schnell was assigned as Staka 9./JG2?

I know that the previous encumbant, Oblt. Hans-Carl Roders was KIA on 17-June-41 but am unsure as to when Schnell officially took over.

Anyhelp whatsover will be very well received indeed.

Roders was killed 23 Jun 41 and I have Schnell taking over after that

Hi guys

According to Prien he was appointed Staffelkapitän of 9./JG 2 on 1 July 1941. I have also come across information stating that on 11 August he was appointed Staffelkapitän of 1.(Eins.)/Ergänzungsgruppe of JG 2 in addition to 9./JG 2. However, Prien has this particular position filled by an unknown officer from 11 July 1941 through 29 December 1941. Hopefully others can comment on this.

After checking again it seems I had the wrong date for the demise of Roders, which was as alluded to on the 23-June-1941.

In addition to Prein's date of 01-July-41 for Schnell replacing him, I notice that the same date is listed in the recently released 'Luftwaffe Officers Career Summaries'.
