Re: 2./KG27 Incident , March 5, 1941

Tony if you find my post condescending then that's a shame because it was not meant to be but you are entitled to your opinion .
Nobody is " drip feeding the forum " as you have suggested . I gave you one of my sources as Gerhard Krems and recently I was told by a person in German of the existance of the Flugbuch . I have asked for a copy of the Flugbuch and if I get it we will all be the wiser .
Myself and the late Paddy Cummins have spent many years researching the Luftwaffe crashes on and around Ireland and it is not possible for us to give away our years of research on this forum before our book comes out this year.
I know people who use this forum who have already published books and I am sure they will appreciate why we cannot reveal information and sources before our book is released .

Herr Schnellmeyer ask many questions but does not answer many and then he is confused in answers. M.Kearns is helpful I notice for many times. Are you writing a book to M.Kearns? I have interest in Ireland.

Yes Swift I have two books in the pipeline. PM me if you wish.
The Air War & Neutral Ireland, the manuscript is completed but always making corrections and additions. The other work is The Irish Air Corps 1937 – 1947 covering the WW2 period or as it is know in Ireland “The Emergency” and awaiting some illustrations to compliment the photographs.

I would just ask has anyone any additional information to add to my posting #8 and #10. I have the RAF details from the ORBs for 235 and 236 Squadrons and the CC Narratives as well as the Irish DRS reports. Perhaps someone with an interest in KG27 can help?
Regards.

You are right Swifte , I have asked many questions on this forum and have been helped by many people who use it . I have noticed you have asked some questions about my KG40 material but I have always answered you . Maybe it is you who are confused as you have never replied to me !!!
I wish Mr. Kearns all the best with his books as I know he has been working hard for many years on these topics , would be nice to see the fruits of his work.
Swift , can you add any information to this post , because this is why it was posted up here ?

Re: 2./KG27 Incident , March 5, 1941

Luft GQM shows Brasch/Fenus as wounded in LK mit Jagern. The unit appears to be I/KG27 rather than 1/KG27 but cannot be sure on this, either due poor quality record or my eyes, but as Matti's info. comes from NVMs 1/KG27 would be right,

Re: 2./KG27 Incident , March 5, 1941

Many thanks Brian, as always.
I notice that you and Matti both list the Bm as Fenus whereas the attached gives his name as Uffz. Konrad Fenns. It would be a bonus to clarify this one.
In my post #10 I suggested that it was the 1G+IH which landed with the two wounded crewmen, this would possibly identify it as 1 staffel, confirmation of this would also be most welcome.
Thanks again Brian.

Tony, I am following on from Matti's post as names in the GQM are often wrong, sometimes there is a change note correcting spellings etc. I believe Matti worked from the NVMs which usually are more accurate. I note Matti has Fenns/Fenus as killed while the GQM has him in the wounded/injured col., assumed he died later from wounds, if so would a grave search help (I never have any luck with these),

Regards

Thanks again Brian , yes that seems to be as a logical explanation and also Matti is always so accurate and of course your good self. As I do not have any German a grave search for me would be a difficult and daunting undertaking. An age thing at this time.
Best wishes

Re: 2./KG27 Incident , March 5, 1941

Gentlemen, please be careful with my info and try to cross-check it, if possible. Although my data mostly comes from NVM, there are still problems:
- GQM reports are containing information on material losses and therefore are not so accurate with names (in 1939 - early 1940 only names of officers were reported),
- Vordruck I and Vordruck II (NVM) is a reporting system for personnel losses and therefore more reliable with crew info,
- NVMs are sometimes so bad (4th or 5th carbon copy), that you have "flip the coin" to decide between letters "o" and "e", "n" and "u", "s" and "z" and so on,
- when comparing info in NVMs and EKM-listings, I have found appr. 3 % of the personnel info being unclear as having a slighly different name (Schmidt versus Schmitt etc), a different date of birth or a different EKM number,
- some flying units, especially in the beginning, wrote documents by hand, sometimes even in sütterlin and this gives a way to a possible misunderstanding,
- and finally, when typing information into my computer I have made typing errors just as the clerks did during WW 2.
Trerefore, please suspect and check. I am always grateful for questioning, because by this way the final truth might be revealed.

Matti
