Re: Belly landed Bf109 Red 3 at Epinoy (?) 1940
Franck, I don't think WNr.33?? is a bad call looking at the pixel arrangement. It's what my money would be on.

Re: Belly landed Bf109 Red 3 at Epinoy (?) 1940
Just a possibility for me, nothing sure. We just can note that it was a very low damage rate (just left wing tip and maybe one blade) Under 5% I guess ... Will be hard to trace it.

Re: Belly landed Bf109 Red 3 at Epinoy (?) 1940
Thanks everyone for your input. Very much appreciated. You have convinced me. 2/JG77 it is.
The WNr does looks like it's 3378 but with this minor damage I don't suppose it was recorded in the QM 6's. Regards, Rudi. |

Re: Belly landed Bf109 Red 3 at Epinoy (?) 1940
It may WNr. 3378 repainted from its original 'red 13'? It would seem to still be the correct unit?

That is a rather convincing hit Jim.

Hi,
Correct spelling must be Le Quesnoy rather than Le quesnay... Bertrand |

Re: Belly landed Bf109 Red 3 at Epinoy (?) 1940
Mere ridiculous speculation.
It's not 3378 and Rote 13 hasn't been repainted. And the red dot has been painted over when other machines displayed it during same period? You have to find better. |

Re: Belly landed Bf109 Red 3 at Epinoy (?) 1940
Whatever Franck. You seem to have difficulties speaking to people in a respectful manner. You obviously have better xray vision eyes and a special inside knowledge that no one else has got. You make such sweeping negative statements. How do you know that it does not show 3378 and a painted out 1 or maybe even the whole 13 has been repainted? It was not uncommon for markings to be painted over as I'm sure you know. Whether it turns out to be 3378 or not, who are you to say that any kind of 'mere' speculation is ridiculous. Speculation is the start of how problems get solved in our world so no idea is ridulous because I guarantee stranger things have been done to the markings on Bf109s in the past. This is a public forum and if anyone want's to make a reasonable suggestion as to what a poor quality image shows they have a right to do so without you or anyone for that matter calling it ridiculous. This kind of arrogant trolling behaviour is exactly what got you permanently banned from LEMB.
