Luftwaffe operations in Norway from April 9th to June 7th, 1940

If anyone has archive material from this period of time, please send me a PM. I will of course pay for your work and expenses.

(I am not looking for recommendations of books.)

Re: Luftwaffe operations in Norway from April 9th to June 7th, 1940

Hello.

Just curious - what is it for? Upcoming publcation or collecting?

I would estimate my collection from this period to hold between 600000 and 800000 pages at the moment.

Regards,
Andreas B

Hallvor,

I don't think that you know what you're asking for. As Andreas said, there is a huge amount of material, not only in his but in many other collections, including the "Eagles over Europe" archive that is supporting what hopefully will be the definitive historical treatment of all of the campaigns during the first 16-months of the air war in Europe. Very large sums of money have been spent by numerous people collecting, translating and archiving such materials. Unless you are a very wealthy person, you couldn't begin to pay for the time and material that has been assembled in these collections, even if the people that have them were willing to share it at any price, as it might well undermine projects they are working on themselves, sometimes for much of their adult lifetimes. Are you seeking information for a personal collection, or do you represent a museum, a historical archive or yourself researching a particular topic or project for publication relating to this subject? If the latter, are you writing an article, a book or a whole series of volumes related to this topic. There are thousands of sources our there, including the surviving archival materials of the Luftwaffe scattered throughout various archives in several countries, including unit war diaries, personal aircrew logbooks and accounts that have been written or given by the surviving aircrew men. Often, many years of work by dedicated researchers has gone into wading through all of this material and assembling archives on specific topics.

So rather than a shotgun approach, you need to be specific about what you're doing, the purpose of your request, and what your goals are. The members of this board have always been extremely generous in sharing information and materials with each other, and new members for serious projects. But with the amount of information out there we could all end up working for years for you just providing the answer to your question. So refine your request to something practical and specific, and you'll probably receive a lot of help and support from people who follow this board. That has been my experience.

Regards,

Hi.

Most of it is digitalized, but I also have about 75 meters of shelves in A4+ height in my storage area. This is not counting the library of books, leaflets, magazines etc

As Larry says - material gathered over decades, and at high cost for parts of the collection.

Regards,
Andreas B

Just curious. I have a few meters of material myself and it starts to be a problem due to lack of space.
