Sgt. Eric Greenwood, DFM 1940

Hallo,

Could anyone please tell me which unit 626210 Sgt. Eric Greenwood belonged to when he was awarded the DFM, gazetted on 22 October 1940 ? I believe he was a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner.

Regards,

Martin.

Re: Sgt. Eric Greenwood, DFM 1940

GREENWOOD, Eric. 626210 Sergeant, No.110 Squadron.
L.G. 22/10/1940. Sorties 37, Flying hours 110. W.Op/Air Gnr. Air2/9467.

Sergeant Greenwood has carried out 37 operational sorties involving 110 hours flying. He has on numerous occasions proved himself to be a first class Air Gunner under fire and is also a good Wireless Operator. Although he has not so far had the opportunity of taking part in any outstanding action, he invariably carries out all his duties in a resolute and courageous manner. I recommend the award of the Distinguished Flying Medal.

29th August 1940

Tavender – DFM Register.

Kind regards, Malcolm.
