No apologies required - I have similar moments myself! Thank you for producing the 'lost' sheet (very much appreciated!) and thanks to Seaplanes for the extra Info. Chris, this is one of the 'sometimes' occasions in which optimism [i]did [i]work.

In your earlier contribution , you show that Shores' stated ".. the Anson made four firing passes...", which made me think that we were talking about different incidents. Interestingly, however, the page for 19 Sept. 1939 from the 2./606 KTB states "Nach 4 Anlaufen..". which (I think) can be simply interpreted as " after 4 approaches (or attempts)..." ie no mention of gunfire - which would fit more readily into the 269 Sqdn scenario. Anyone have a view on this?

Thanks to all who contributed to this item. It became strangely engrossing for me - especially when the incident was very minor and without any real significance. However, the latest contributions - by Adam and Seaplanes - have provided a new beginning : the search is now on for photographs of the 2./606 crew responsible. I have posted the request as a separate topic. Can anyone help?

Indeed! So 2 different aircraft reported meeting with Ansons an hour apart but only one 'fired'. Interesting to see Waldecker's name-he transferred from the Navy to Luftwaffe and was awarded Ritterkreuz (POW with KG 6 in Oct 43)

If your two aircraft were from 612 Sq, and 269 Sq, the two sightings were 5 minutes apart: 1005hrs ans 1010hrs, respectively.

The name of Feldwebel Kurt Hinriche is from KTB Gen d. Lw.b.Ob.d.M. for
1.4. - 30.6.1940. I believe this to be the correct version as it is the same
as on the KTB-page posted by you. I am not sure where the other version comes from, but probably based on RAF interrogation reports.

Not sure where 1111hrs comes from.

KTB 2./606 gives 1005hrs: KTB F.d.L West gives 10.08hrs; Shores (via Stig) gives 1005hrs; 269Sqdn report of the incident gives c.1010hrs.

As I understand it, in September '39 Germany was on Central European Time and the UK was on British Summer Time: both coincided.

Should have said that until 19 Nov 39, UK was on GMT and Germans were on CET until 1 Apr 40, CET being GMT+1
