Radiation tag in the cockpit of the Ta-152H-O at Garber?

Note the radiation warning tag attached to some wires in the cockpit of the Ta-152H-O at Paul E. Garber facility. What is that for? Is all the labeling on the instrument panel done in Tritium or Radium 226 paint?

I think it is for the instruments markings themselves. I recall where a few years ago Dutch collectors were sanctioned and their instrument collections seized.

A gross over reaction as usual by government busy-bodies.

Yep. It's all right here: http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=19924 Wow-o-wow, that's quite a story and quite a thread.

Does anyone know if Liad van Praag (wwiiaircraftinstruments) got his property back, or was ever compensated for this seizure? How did it turn out?

Liad never got his instruments back.

It went to court, and took around 2-3 years to do the entire court case.

I helped him with whatever I could, but the attitude of the government was that they were "too dangerous".

Last I heard from him was that rather than being destroyed, the ruling was that they were allowed to be sent to a museum.

There is more radiation exposure coming from your TV, than from a German instrument...

It's a side-effect of most instrument production "of that era." The luminous paint had traces of radium. The "real-world" risk is tiny... as already stated.

Dalgety Bay in Scotland, on the other hand.... is a problem.
