192 Squadron ORB (help required)

Good night for all.
I am begging some help of anyone who may have the 192 Squadron ORB for the month of June 1944.
I would like to obtain the full report about the Squadron's activities of the 27th/28th June 1944, most particularly what happened to the Mosquito IV serial DK327, DT*N crewed by F/L Robert Orville BURGESS (119467) and F/O Cummens (or Cummings).

I understand that F/L Burgess survived the war, being transferred to the RCAF in 1944. Someone happens to have relatives contacts, address or email?

Is there any Picture of the damaged DK327 with 192 Squadron marks on it?

Thanks for your help and time in Reading this thread,
Adriano

Adriano

I have a copy of the report for this incident which was friendly fire as they saw the Mossie that did it (probably Rice of 141 Sqn who claimed a Ju 88 near Cambrai at 0122 hrs; they were attacked 0120 hrs). It was Mossie DK327/N and the crew were Fg Off W J Crimmin DFC & Flt Lt R O Burgess which came down at Friston 0253 hrs. Drop me a line if I can help

Chris

Re: 192 Squadron ORB (help required)

Hi Adriano,

According to the Form 540 of the ORB:
F/O Crimmen (sic) with F/Lt Burgess in Mosquito 'N' carried out a special duty flight to Vitry le Francois. While over enemy occupied territory, this aircraft was badly shot up and was unable to reach base. It crash landed at Friston. Neither the pilot nor the special observer was injured.

Form 541 doesn't add much, except that it concerned F/O W. J. Crimmin (sic).

Regards,
Hans

Re: 192 Squadron ORB (help required)

Chris and Hans,
Thank you very very much for the additional details (time of landing and time of attack). Chris, your narrowing of the probable "claimant" helped quite a lot...I thought on the claim by a 239 Squadron member (F/L Dennis Welfare) over a Me 410, which was already discussed on a previous thread, until I came this 192 Squadron Mosquito being attacked by a friendly Mosquito, on the excellent book by Sharp and Bowyer.
Chris, if you could, and if this will not disturb you, off course, share the full report, it would be nice (maybe the damages are reported and the actions by the crew, etc..).
I do thank you all for the data shared, which enhanced me to understand what happened that particular night over the skies of Europe.
MOST sincerely and GRATEFUL,
Adriano

Re: 192 Squadron ORB (help required)

Just adding new info to the previous thread?

William John Crimmin (RAFVR 157400) was awarded a DFM (not a DFC) on LG of 12 March 1943...for his previous (I understand 1st Tour of Operations) with 115 Squadron, as a Flight Sergeant (RAFVR 1376822).

Yours, must sincerely,
Adriano

Says DFC in the report as you can see-a mistake at the time then!
