B-24 with Gun Turrets, Fire Controllsystem etc. from B-29

Hello,
I'm looking for an photo (or more) from that plane or planes. My information says, an old B-24D from 400th BS was used for this conservation.

Thanks,
Hans

Here's a picture. Notice the tail wheel, obviously there for a purpose!
Serial number is probably 41-23765. Here's a link to the great 90th BG Web Site for the 400th BS
http://www.jollyrogersweb.com/result...p?selGrpID=400

From J. Baugher's Website
"41-23765 (90th BG, 400th BS) to RFC at Altus, OK Oct 17, 1945"

BTW,the picture is from a book on aerial armament by Merle Olmsted.

Could these B-29-type turrets have been taken from one of several B-32 Dominators that were written off in accidents in the Philipines?

It is my opinion that these types of gunnery installations were test beds, prior to actually fitting them to the B-29s. The AN/APQ-7 Radar was installed on severals B-24s and at least one B-17 for testing prior to being installed on the B-29B model.

While the link to the photo does not seem to work, I think this link may be the same photo.

The plane was back in the US (Returned to the Zone of the Interior) and was used to train B-29 gunners. Hence the B-29 turrets installed on a B-24. Such converted planes were designated RB-24L.
