Unknown(to me) Luftwaffe publication
Any feedback about this would be appreciated. Perhaps physical copies are out there.

Re: Unknown(to me) Luftwaffe publication
Hi Ed,
A year or so ago I finally was able to get a copy of this issue (juni 1943) and was dissapointed because the content is exactly the same as the juni 1943 issue of "Der Flieger" (see attachment). Don't know if you are familiar with that magazine? The only information I found really interesting is that by juni 1943 around 300 Ehrenpokalen (Honour Goblets) were awarded to members of the unit. Besides that it contains information about the 30.000 Feindflug flow by the crew of RKT Otto Engel. That is why he is on the cover of Der Flieger. There is also some other information on the unit/members, but the biggest part of both magazines doesn't cover information on Kampfgeschwader 53. Kind regards, Thomas Last edited by Thomas H; 5th July 2021 at 22:46. |

Re: Unknown(to me) Luftwaffe publication
Hi Thomas,
Thank you very much. I have heard of Der Flieger but have not seen a cover that I can recall. Thank you for your explanation and the cover image. Best, Ed |

Re: Unknown(to me) Luftwaffe publication
Hi Ed
I was also unaware of this magazine until I received a copy with the documents and memorabilia of Hauptmann Werner Breese, who features in the issue I have for 15th October 1942. The magazine is bigger than my scanner so the cover image here is cut off - sorry. Just for information, here is the article - Breese has the '2' around his neck in the photo. I attach and a separate image of Breese receiving the RK in 1944. I am lucky enough to have his Flugbuch, Ehrenpokal, several award documents, Wehrpass, photo albums and a lot of articles and papers relating to Breese.
