The 2./JG 51 was transferred to home defence duties during late May 1944 and became 16./JG 3 on 10.08.44.

Re: Fw.Otto Pritzl 2/JG 51

I have found 14 claims, including 12 4-mots, for Pritzl of the 18 or 19 he is said to have from various sources. His rank is variously given as Feldwebel or Oberfeldwebel but not in any particular order.

5./JG 302 (Reschke, JG 301/302 "Wilde Sau")
29.12.43 4-mot
24.05.44 B-17 HSS
24.05.44 B-17
29.05.44 B-24

2./JG 51 (attached to IV./JG 3) (Prien, IV./JG 3)
07.07.44 B-24
18.07.44 B-17 HSS

11./JG 7 (Foreman & Harvey Me 262 Combat Diary and Boehme JG 7
20.03.45 B-17
20.03.45 B-17
24.03.45 B-17
31.03.45 B-17
04.04.45 B-17
10.04.45 P-47
10.04.45 P-47
17.04.45 B-17

Cheers,
Tom

Re: Fw.Otto Pritzl 2/JG 51

Thanks Tom

I think, there is a confusion between Otto PRITZEL (JG 302) and Otto PRITZL (JG 51).It's true that the two names are very close.
The "guy" from the JG7 is probably the same as the one of JG51.
Now,his "abschuss" of 07/07/1944 is given as his 7.He would have obtained six previous "abschus" wich today still have to prouve.

Whatever his career is interesting(7 "abschuss" with a Me.262),18 or 19 in total and no significant décoration, seems to be!

Re: Fw.Otto Pritzl 2/JG 51

Michel,

I had noticed the spelling difference (they are pronounced the same) so could be the same guy or two different pilots. Perhaps someone more expert than me can clarify.

Re: Fw.Otto Pritzl 2/JG 51

Bonjour Tom

You are right!!Pritzel and Pritzl are only one:Reschke in its book page 65 speaks well of Pritzl

Now remains to know the complete list of his "abschuss"
19(2 in the east,17 in the west of wich 15 "viermots"!!) very good

JG51,JG 302,JG 4?,....JG 7
night fighter("wilde sau"),"killer of viermots":really interesting and Turbulent

Re: Fw.Otto Pritzl 2/JG 51

Gentlemen,

According to "Kracker Archives",Otto Pritzl was a holder of the German Cross in Gold. No date for the award unfortunately.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao
