9th USAAF statistics December 1944

Gentlemen,

does anybody out there have the overall figures for the service of 9th USAAF in December 1944, in particular the total number of sorties flown by medium bombers, by fighters and recce a/c, their respective losses and their claims ? Losses can be at leas partially pieced together with the help of the M.A.C.R. but for the other figures I'm at a loss since I don't know a reliable source where I could find them.

So - if anybody would be so kind to enlighten me it would be gratefully appreciated.

Jochen - there are some snippets on this site http://387bg.com/387th%20Bombardment...Chronology.htm .There are similar sites for some of the other B-26 groups which might be of some small help,

Good evening Mr. Prien !

You'll find exact this information always on the first page of the daily "Summary of Operations" for Ninth Air Force.

December 1944 is microfilmed by AFHRA in two parts:
- reel # B5688 (November 6th, 1944 - December 6th, 1944)
- reel # B5689 (December 7th, 1944 - December 31st, 1944)

An example: page # 1367 on reel # B5689 gives the operation summary for December 25th, 1944.

Those summaries were written very close after the day of operation and on my believe, they are most reliable.

Best wishes !
