It was a F-8 or F-9 ? And what WNr ?

Maybe you have some information about this plane on your data ?

Thank you very much,

Re: Amazing footage of Me 262s at Innsbruck

Nick,

Here is a clearer image of the Ju 188 D-2 “--+DP”, WNr.290041, at Innsbruck-Hötting in May 1945. I seem to recall someone (you?) previously identifying the machine’s unit; perhaps Aufkl.Gr. 121 or Aufkl.Gr. 33 operating with Luftflotte 4?

Best,

David

Re: Amazing footage of Me 262s at Innsbruck

Gents,

I just found my notes on this aircraft and have it as "F6+DP" of 6./(F)Aufklar.Gr. 122. Can anyone confirm or correct this identity?

Best,

David

Re: Amazing footage of Me 262s at Innsbruck

6.(F)/122 had at least two earlier F6+DP:
Ju 88 A-4 (W.Nr. 550203, F6+DP) shot down on 9 August 1944
Ju 188 D-2 (W.Nr. 150044, F6+DP) shot down on 28 November 1944
We had a much lower quality shot of the Innsbruck machine in Air War Italy 1944–45 (I don't recall the source) and the "DP" was about the only detail you could make out.

Hi Matolion,

I have my doubts about 170061 being this White 4.

First, the Me 262s of III./EJG 2 (170061 being White 11) had their numbers forward of the cockpit.

Second, every photo I have seen of III./EJG 2's White 4 has a "kaulquappe" tail. To my eye, the photograph of this White 4 at the top page 52 of Dan O'Connell's Production Log has the werknummer 170306 below the tailplane.

Finally, while 170061 is on the 26 April 1945 inventory of JV44, I have seen no documentation placing it at Innsbruck-Hotting.

From much staring at the your photos and the above one enlarged, I would hazard "110x57". Of course, I am willing to be corrected.

Thanks. Hm, I don't know any W.Nr. number that would fit 110x57

Re: Amazing footage of Me 262s at Innsbruck

Jim,

Close! I interpret this kite as WNr.113357, and ex-JV 44 aircraft that appears on the 26 April 1945 document listing Me 262s at München-Riem.

The digits of Werknummern for this 113xxx series are widely spaced and their positioning on this kite matches well with other known machines, especially the well photographed WNr.113345 at Schleissheim. Ditto the camouflage and markings.

With these 'Jabos' sometimes the last three digits of the Werknummer are hand-painted on the forward bomb pylons.

Best,

David

I also have some doubts as to it being 170061.
