MMP Books - Two Volumes of Photos of Crashed Soviet Airplanes - 1941

Is anyone aware of other books devoted to photos of 1941-1942 era Soviet aircraft? It is common knowledge that all German servicemen were required to take classes in photography and scrapbooking before they began their combat tours. But seriously, there must be thousands of WWII German photos showing captured, shot-down and derelict Soviet aircraft. Is MMP the only publisher to bring these to print?

"Volume 1 features over 160 photographs of captured and destroyed Soviet aircraft from the Eastern Front in World War Two. Most of the photographs were taken in situ, during and after the Operation Barbarossa - the attempted Nazi invasion of Russia."

Barbarossa Victims Vol. 2

Barbarossa Victims: Luftwaffe Kills in the East

"This book features over 320 photographs of captured and destroyed Soviet aircraft from the Eastern Front in World War Two - most of them having never been published before. All of the captured aircraft were tested at Rechlin air base in Germany where most of the photographs were taken in situ, during and after the Operation Barbarossa - the attempted Nazi invasion of Russia. Maps and charts show the German advances, and both sides' bases, plus losses during the campaign."

Looks like a reprint of this 2001 title of 144 pages split into two volumes.
Exact same author.
MMP's website lists the page length of the new volumes as 80pp (V1) and 90pp (V2) so maybe some updates, new content.
Or just formatting change.
To explain the different page count total.

I included Kopański's 2001 publication (out of print) at the bottom of my post.

All of the book dealers & distributors big & small list the page count for each of the 2025 editions as 184. This is strange. I have never encountered this type of discrepancy before. It's possible that MMPBooks webpage is listing the number of pieces of paper vs. the page count (front & back of each page).

I had assumed that additional photos appear in the new volumes 1 & 2 compared to the content of the 2001 book. But it appears that the 2025 books have the exact same number of photos (160 & 160) vs. the 320 photos in the 2001 book. It would seem to be a simple split just like you suggested. Hopefully larger format for each picture.

I have ordered a copy of volume I - will let ya'll know.

I just received my copy of Volume I

It is indeed 80 pages in length as described at the MMP Books web page.

Photo reproduction is very good with the vast majority having detailed description.

I would edit my original post to indicate the actual page count but that option has timed out.
