Using A.I to transcribe hand written documents
https://www.transkribus.org/
I tested a few. Worked pretty well. Some RAF combat reports and even German ones in sutterling Its not flawless i.g it will process all that is on the form ( not only the hand written stuff. Google ai will do that too. And one can give prompts as ocr, translate etc etc Perhaps to some use for members. |

I've tried out ChatGPT for the same purpose and have been moderately pleased with the results. Again not flawless but far from useless.

Re: Using A.I to transcribe hand written documents
For documents with pre printed one can use this prompt
delete pre printed text, use only hand written text, ocr, delete clutter in text. https://www.alamy.com/ww2-combat-rep...268824092.html Gives this 31st August 1940 A Squadron 85 30 Do 215, 100 Me 109, 110 2 Do 215 Probable 14:45 S.E. edge of London 16,000 feet 2 Do 215 Probable Nil Nil Enemy Aircraft were sighted coming from S.E. As HYDE leader I positioned myself and the Squadron between the sun and the enemy formation of Dorniers. When in position approximately a thousand feet above the leading formation, I called out a quarter attack from the sun. I opened fire on one of the leading formations and saw one Do. wheel over and go down. I brought my sights onto another formation on the right and opened fire at approximately 200 yards, closing until I nearly hit him. Pieces of metal flew off and one engine burst into flames; this aircraft went down. As I pulled up, an Me 109 came into my sights and I gave a quick burst but had to break before I saw the results. Immediately I broke away downwards and climbed into the sun but found that the enemy formation had broken up and turned. From then on, I carried out a number of attacks on Me 109s but again could not stay to see results. Canard P/O Section HYDE LEADER Flight A Squadron 85 |
