Ju 88 A-4 Crashed in Spain 24-3-1944

A photo of the tail of a Ju 88 which crashed at Enviny , Spain was published in Flypast magazine a few years ago . It was stated that the aircraft w.n. ??0967 crashed on 24th March 1944 and an unknown airman was buried in the German military Cemetery at Cuacos de Yuste, Cacares.
According to a NVM three of the crew of Ju 88 (A4?) 4D+ON w.n 800967 of 5/KG 30 baled out near Dreux on 24th. March, following an engine fire on the outward flight to attack London. The Bf. Uffz. Heinz Maiwald is shown as missing, is the identity of the three who baled out known ? I did pass this on to an author in Germany some time ago and wondered if the grave of the unknown airman was now identified as Maiwald. Any more info. on this appreciated,

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren !
Im Auftrag von Herrn Brian Bines aus Grossbritannien, der sich
privat mit der Luftwaffe des 2. Weltkriegs beschäftigt,
möchte ich Ihnen – falls Ihnen noch nicht bekannt – über
die mögliche Aufklärung des Schicksals eines deutschen
vermissten Fliegers berichten:
In der Mai-Ausgabe der englischen Flieger-Zeitschrift FlyPast
(www.flypast.com) ist auf Seite 29 ein Artikel über deutsche
Luftwaffen-Verluste in Spanien abgedruckt.
Nach Angaben des Autors ist am 24. März 1944 in den
Pyrenäen im Ort ENVINY (Provinz Lenda) eine deutsche
Ju 88 A-1 abgestürzt. Dabei starb der vermutlich einzige in der
Maschine befindliche, damals unbekannte deutsche Flieger.
Er wurde als unbekannter Soldat auf dem deutschen
Militärfriedhof Cuacos de Yuste/Caceres bestattet.
Die genaue Werknummer der Ju 88 ist nicht bekannt,
aber die Endziffern waren angeblich 0967.
Herr Bines hat nun anhand einer offiziellen "Namentlichen Verlustmeldung"
des Kampfgeschwaders 30 herausgefunden, dass am
24.03.1944 der Unteroffizier Bordfunker Heinz Maiwald *30.03.1922
in Dresden, Einheit II./K.G.30 (Nr. 62 706/9) vermisst wurde.
Angeblich war er bei Dreux/Frankreich infolge Motorbrand seiner
Maschine 4D+ON W.-Nr. 800 967 mit dem Fallschirm abgesprungen
und seitdem vermisst.
Aufgrund des gleichen Datums und der gleichen vier Endziffern der
Ju 88- Werknummer in beiden Quellen ist es hochwahrscheinlich, dass es sich
bei dem Verstorbenen in den Pyrenäen um Heinz Maiwald handelt.
Ich bitte Sie, sofern möglich, einmal diese Angaben zu prüfen
und evtl den Verlust von Herrn Maiwald offiziell zu bestätigen.

Did you ever check that the distance from Dreux to the crash site at Enviny is roughly 800 kms and just in opposite direction to the aimed target London? I would be rather hesitant believing that this could match.

FrankieS ; thanks very much hopefully this might get sorted out and the id of 0967 comfirmed.
Gunther ; I take your point but if 4D+ON was heading back over France in a generally southward direction it could have made Spain. I believe the relatives of Heinz Maiwald only knew he was missing and he is not showing as having a grave. With the same date the possible same werk nummer and only one body in the Spanish crash it is worth checking out. As regards the distance covered in 1940 a Ju 88 abandoned near Reims ( The Blitz Then and Now vol 2 ) crashed just south of London, and in 1941 a Ju 88C returning from England was abandoned near Charleville, France and flew on to crash in North Italy ( see Intruders Over Britain by Simon Parry ),
