Hans Schmoller-Haldy

Gents

Can anyone out there please assist with either information or a photo of Oblt Hans Schmoller-Haldy's Bf109F-2.

I have seen pictures of the Bf109E however I was trying to match some artwork I had seen on a F-2 marked as Yellow 1 with a similar cartoon to the one one the above mentioned Oblt's E models.

Best regards

Buz

Re: Hans Schmoller-Haldy

Holį Buz,
I think I can be of help with a series of photos and profiles of Schmoller-Haldy's F-2. However I would like to see the artwork you have mentioned here before I take the time to bring my infos in sequence for posting here.
I can asure you that it was the F-2, yellow 1, because it was his last operational Bf 109 in which he belly-landed on 23rd February 42 near Chudowo. His career continued in the Stab of Gen der Jagdflieger Galland.
Cheers

Hi Horst

Thanks for the reply. Attached is a close up of the art work (cropped down a little from the whole photo).

Re: Hans Schmoller-Haldy

Holį Buz,
thank you for your posted photo. Please note that you have to give it a vertical mirror, the cockpit canopy on the 109 always opens to the right hand side. Unfortunately your photo does not show Schmoller-Haldy's F2, yellow 1. The Micky is different but you probably know that a lot of members of J/88 (spanish civil war) continued to use their old emblems, in Schmoller-Haldy's case 3.J/88. I attach a detail of his F2 and a profile of the same. Hope it helps, btw if you don't mind could you send me the complete photo by e-mail, pls?
Cheers

Re: Hans Schmoller-Haldy

Well, hihotte, the photo you posted depicts a Bf 109E while the photo Buz posted is a mirrored image of a Bf 109F.

Re: Hans Schmoller-Haldy

Holį Primoz, thank you for your correction, I would have betted it is a F2 on my detail. I agree that Buz's photo is a F2. Would you please tell us how you found out that my detail is an E?
Cheers

Re: Hans Schmoller-Haldy

Well, that was easy. There's no fuel filler cap where it shoud be (on a Friedrich) and the wing fillet is very "Emil-like".

Re: Hans Schmoller-Haldy

Holį Primoz and Buz,
thanks Primoz, I am fully convinced that my detail is an E. I have combed my JG 54 database and found a pretty worn out a photo of Schmoller-Haldy's F2 (attached) with Micky wearing a white top?? So, Buz, my apologies. It seems that your photo possibly shows SH's F2. May I ask you to either post the complete photo here or send it to me via e-mail? It would fit nice in my collection. I attach an early image of SH's Emil and a later emblem of 3.JG54.

Cheers
