Well, I was surprised to learn there were only six nations!

There were six nations involved into battle of France: Germany, France, British, Italy,Belgium and Holand, I know there are Polish pilots participants in the battle of France, but they were part of French airforce, not as an independent Polish airforce

They were independent Polish Air Force, only under joint Allied operational control, as testified by Franco-Polish agreements. Czechoslovak airmen had a different status, but still, they were representing a nation.

Franek, yes, there were independent Polish airforce, but polish pilots fought as part of Squardron of French airforce, there was no independent polish airforce unit in the battle of France

I do not think if someone is attached to a French unit, it makes him French. And yes, there were Polish units, eg. GC I/145, a Finnish Squadron.

Re: new book on air War 1940

So why it was named GC and not Dywizjon Mysliwski? Why the unit was created by French Aviation Command?
I think you just want to pick hole in this.

Re: new book on air War 1940

For logistic purposes, but Polish period documents refer to Dywizjon as well. The key issue is that Franco-Polish agreement clearly stated it is Polish Air Force, just only organised to French standards. The same situation was later in Britain, and Britons had to modify their law to allow foreign troops to be based on their soil.

Re: new book on air War 1940

The point is that it was not independent unit. All orders were received from French Air Force Command. It`s still just picking a hole.
