John T Godfrey
Does anyone know the exact day of promotion of John T Godfrey to Capt and also to Maj? Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
I reccomend to start use Allied and Soviet part of this forum, not this one with Luftwaffe and Axis topics. In the Allied and Soviet part of forum you could get higher attention.

Hi Kocab,
That is a pretty easy one for me to answer. John T. Godfrey transfered from the RCAF to the USAAF on 18 April 1943. He joined the 4th FG on 22 Sept 1943 (the same day as Ralph Kidd Hofer) and was assigned to 336 Squadron as a 2nd Lt. Promoted to 1st Lt. in mid December 1943. He was promoted to Captain between 24 April and 1 May 1944. He was still a Captain when he was shot down and made a POW on 24 August 1944. His promotion to Major came while he was still a member of the 4th FG either while he was a POW or upon his return from captivity. Hope this helps. Troy
