Seeking details of a PB4Y-1 Liberator lost over Biscay in November 1944. Crew - their fate, a/c serial number etc. Alex |

You probably mean PB4Y-1 BuNo 32032 (ex-USAAF B-24D 42-40429) lost on 12 Nov 1944. VB-103. Sank U-508 in Bay of Biscay that day. Will look for crew details (10 MIA). Regards, Leendert |

The one was for 8th November 1944 did I get the year wrong was it 1943 ? Another loss was for 31st March 1944 what have you for that loss ? Thanks Alex |

I have BuNo 63940 "L" Lt Moore shot down by Ju88s 10KIA on 31March 1944 . Chris Goss has the details in his work of art "Bloody Biscay" I don't have it to hand at the moment. HTH Regards, Tony K |

There were two PB4Ys lost on the 31st March '44. Both shot down by fighters over the Bay of Biscay. 63940 'L' B-11 . O.H.Moore Lt.(jg) G.A.Rapp Lt.(jg) R.M.Kreuger Ensign S.R.Clayton AMM1c W.A.Doerich AMM2c W.N.Swanson ARM1c P.I.Jordan ARM2c J.R.Stewart AOM2c H.O.Prattar AMM2c G.P.Enfieger S2c All lost! 63948 'M' B-12 H.Barton Lt. R.J.Schuetz Lt.(jg) P.W.Bash Ensign W.J.Ketchen ACMM(AA) W.F.Smith AMM3c R.P.Krebs AMM2c D.V.J.Timberman ARM2c A.P.Oliver ARM3c D.C.Gamble AOM2c E.H.McLean ARM3c R.W.Mellette AOM2c I believe they were both shot down by Oblt. Dieter Meister of ZG1 within 30 minutes of each other! 8th November '43. 63919 'F' B-6. W.E.Grumbles Lt. A.F.Wentworth Ensign J.T.Drinkwater Ensign J.E.Dennis AMM2c W.B.Hay AMM3c C.J.Kavanagh ARM3c J.H.Cole AOM3c G.H.Johnston AMM2c C.F.Kelly S1c Shot down by fighters.
