Help Identifying HE 111p history

Hello, I have been a fairly keen avaiation nut for the past 50 years albeit in civial aviation. two days ago my younger brother who is not avaition inclined callesd me to say he had inherited several Mercedes Benz engine plates ( he presumed they were from a car and he mentioned that one had the date 16.2.39 ( 16 Feb 1939). This morning we exchanged eatser cards and he has given me the plates. There are 3 and the first one to mention is a small rectangular plate NDW. HE111 P with B Nr 536 W Nr 1582. Z Nr 8 - 111.6001 - 30 ancd Abnahme 16.2.39 with a small inverted triagngle with circles at its point with 94 inset followed by BAL and what looks like 297. The back of the plate is in camoflague green.

The second plate States Mercedes Benz FLUGMOTOR Baumuster 601A w.Nr 60638 Baureihe 1 then GA 03/53.

The third plate States Merced benz gerat nR DB 601A and Werk Nr 20281.

Any histroy of this aircraft ( Im assuming all three plates are from the same aircraft) would be very much welcomed particularly the aircrafts final resting home. I live very close to Farnborough in Hampshire ( UK).

Many thanks Bob

Re: Help Identifying HE 111p history

Seems not to appear in usual loss-lists, so he could hv been destroyed during May to aug. 1940 period where the Wn where not stacked on loss-returns, what is a bit puzzling I hv this Wn 2 times at Work-shop Semlin/Serbia on aug nd oct. 1941 with to radio-codes diff. TN+AV or TW+AV
....

Re: Help Identifying HE 111p history

I have a He 111 P-2 WNr. 1582, G1+FR that was produced by Dornier-Nord Flugzeugwerke GmbH in Wismar that belonged to 7./KG 55 and was lost on 16-Aug-40 at High Salvington in England. It made an emergency landing due to damage by enemy fighters. The pilot was Ltn. Rudolf Theobald. He and 2 crew were taken prisoner (3) and two of the crew died. Unfortunately no names.

Regards,
Norbert

Re: Help Identifying HE 111p history

Thank you Norbet. High Salvington is approx 50 miles away from me now and fairly close to the coast at Shoreham. One wonders did this crash on its way in to make its raid or perhaps it was on its way home. I guess it may have been on its way home because unless it was only lightly damaged if it had had bombs still on board it would have been more extensively damaged - possibly with no survivors - unless they bailed out. The plates show no sign of damage except for where they were prised away from the rivets. Anyway many thanks for your Myyaris
