Can anyone tell me the dates of deployment for Lysander squadrons (and which ones) to France? Also, does anyone know which Lysander squadron was the first to operate a detachment as air sea rescue during 1940 and from where and when?

Well i will put in a bid first......

The earliest ASR I found out about, was a 16 Sqn detachment at roborough ( now plymouth airport ).
Later post BoB, in 1940 Roborough ASR flight was formed from the idea.

But others may know more, or of earlier ones.

I assume a detachment was at most a flight of 3 - 4?and this would have gone into operation about July-August-ish?

No. 2, 4, 13 and 26 Squadron with Lysanders deployed to France from Sept/Oct 1939 on.
