VVSROA
Hello,
The VVSROA. Since Carl-Fredrick Geust's "Under the RED STAR". Has anything new come to light on this Unit or its aircraft and aircrews ? Thanks Alex |

Re: VVSROA
Nothing new really. Geust only gives a potted history of the ROA Air Force, the detail is in the book by Joachim Hoffmann - Die Tragödie der "Russischen Befreiungsarmee" 1944/1945.
That said, the people from Japo published the only known photograph of a ROA St.Andrews cross on a Bf109 in their book Messerschmitt Bf109G-10/U4 Production & Operational Service in 2004, see the first image below. The second image consists of two pages of the ROA Air Force newspaper Наши крылья published in April 1945. There is some more detail on ROA pilots serving with Flugzeugüberführungsgeschwader 1 here http://www.wwii-photos-maps.com/luft...den/index.html, starting with image no. 720. And finally some documents from my own collection http://pdfcast.org/download/vvskonr.pdf. Last edited by Hans Mcilveen; 30th October 2010 at 10:26. |
