Who atacked Pratica di mare Sept. 17. 1944?

Hello!
Being more a "Luftwaffe man" i hope to get some help with this question if possible.

On the above date the airfield Pratica di mare in Italy was bombed by the allied and if it is possible i would like to know the unit who did so.
The reason for my question is that i have a picture of a german airman who fell there that day and i would like to find out as much as possible on him and his fate.

Thanks in advance

Christian

Hello Christian,

From what little I have.
Andrew Brooks "Air War over Italy" has only
"a reported attack by 2 aircraft - probably recce Bf109's on 56th Division troops at 11.115 hrs."
And
from "Air war Italy 1944-45" - At 1115 on the 17th troops of the British 56th Division reported an attack by two aircraft, perhaps connected with the reported destruction of a 1./NAGr.11 Bf109 by AA fire.

Hello Alex!
Thank you very much for your reply.
However i was under the impression that the airfield was bombed by the british or americans. The reason is that the german airman i was referring to is an Ofw. Josef Hausner, a member of TG 4, who was reported missing "..nach Bombenabwurf in Flugplatz Pratica di mare."
I thought the Transportgeschwader was stationed there at the time of the attack.
Am i totally wrong in my beliefs? I have attached a picture of him, where you can see the date of his death/went missing.
Thanks in advance again.
