Hs 129 V-4 and TF+AP?
In the book of Brune Lange: Typenhandbuch der deutschen Luftfahrttechnik (1986) it is mentioned the existence of Hs 129 V-4, powered by a pair of Argus As 410A-1 engines. Logically, this would have been the TF+AP.
I know of only the V-1, V-2 and V-3 prototypes (W. Nr. 129 3001 to 3003), equipped with the same in-line engine. W.Nr. 3004 was the first A-0. According to my informaton, the V-4 was the prototype for the C sub-type, that was never built. Can someone clarify this issue, based on reliable sources?

Re: Hs 129 V-4 and TF+AP?
Based on documents in Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv Freiburg, only the Hs 129V-1 to V-3 are mentioned.
On 01.09.40 the situation was as follows: Hs 129V-1 W.Nr. 129-3001 engine: As 410A-0 at Rechlin for testing. Hs 129V-2 W.Nr. 129-3002 engine: As 410A-0 Destroyed. Hs 129V-3 W.Nr. 129-3003 engone: As 410A-1 From Rechlin to Henschel for repairs. At the same time the planned 0-Serien was as follows: Hs 129A-0 12 to be delivered July 1940 - October 1940. Hs 129B-0 16 to be delivered February 1941 - May 1941. There are no mention of a V-4 in any production statistics I have seen. The series of 12 Hs 129A-0 were delivered with 2 aircraft by november 1940 and the complete series of 12 by June 1, 1941. Unfortunately, at the moment I have no indication that the B-0 series of 16 aircraft was ever completed. The series production of the Hs 129 ran as follows: Hs 129B-1 total 50 aircraft by Henschel. Hs 129B-2 total 792 aircraft by Henschel. Hs 129B-3 total 20 aircraft by Henschel. |

Re: Hs 129 V-4 and TF+AP?
hello Dénes
In the book Hs129 in combat on page 4 there is a picture of wnr129 3005 with Argus As410A-1 engines. So there are more Hs129 aircraft with this engine. There is also a drawing of the wnr129 3011 with this engine and Stkfs GM+OH. I think that the whole A-0 batch has As410A-1 engines. However, I am wondering if the documents you quoted actually give the total number of manufactured aircraft, or only the number of airplanes accepted by the Luftwaffe, which was a different number. In the total number of manufactured aircraft, airplanes retained by Henschel for test purposes, destroyed during bombing raids on HFW, or scrapped during Sept. 1944, when the order to halt production arrived, etc., should be included. That's why my calculation of the final number, based on Werknummer blocks, gives 1158 manufactured airplanes. Obviously, more research of primary sources, including airmen's Flugbücher, is needed. Best wishes, Dénes
