Bf 109 F-4 without triangle plexis
Was this conversion common with the old F-4's?

Re: Bf 109 F-4 without triangle plexis
Without checking my references, I believe it was not uncommon for a 'Friedrich' to have the right (starboard) side small triangle be of metal. In fact, it appears to be the norm. Just check the following site and you can find plenty of such cases: http://www.bf-109.de/
Here is only one such occurrence: ![]() [Source: http://www.bf-109.de/ Foto-ID: 2073]

Re: Bf 109 F-4 without triangle plexis
The 109 F-1 bis F-4 manual of January 1942 shows a metal right quarter-panel with the tube for a flare gun sticking through it.

On the other hand, there are photos that show '109 Friedrich with a window in the right side small triangle...
