Re: Lt. Karl Palliardi 3./KG54

We have it for the day previous (18.September)

Ju 88A-1 WNr.4058, Ltn. Karl Palliardi, 3./KG 54, coded B3+LL (Stammkennzeichen: ND+YG), 18.Sept. 1940 Bruchlandung at Schellingwoude due to fuel shortage. Bordschütz Gefr. Paul Schleiss killed.

Palliardi was a later Deutsches Kreuz in Gold recipient.

Re: Lt. Karl Palliardi 3/KG54

Which day depends on the exact time of the accident I guess. Currently, I have it thus:

19 September 1940: 3./KG54 Junkers Ju88A-1 (4058). Wrecked in landing accident at Schellingwoude following night attack on south London. BS Gefr Paul Schleiss killed, FF Lt Karl Palliardi and rest of crew unhurt. Aircraft B3+LL 100% write-off.

Re: Lt. Karl Palliardi 3/KG54

The names of the rest of the crew were not recorded since they were unhurt.

There is a picture of this forced landing in Radtke's book on page 53. This is the only picture I've seen so far of this mishap.

Regards,
Rudi.
