Feldwebel Josef Kehrle

Hi to all,

I would like to know more about the fate of Fw. Josef Kehrle. He started his career in 5./JG 1, achieved a total of 14 kills throughout the war and became WIA several times.
However, I can not find anything about his fate; did he survive the war?
And is there anything known about the WerkNr. of his G-6/R-6 black 7?

Thanks!

About his faith? I presume you mean fate. He was WIA on 1-Apr-44. I have no other info, but it's entirely likely that his wounds prevented him from returning to flying.

Yes, fate :P Sorry, I should have known better...

Anyway, thanks for the info. That could be the reason that he did not fly again, though I could not find any other info about him after this crash.

Re: Feldwebel Josef Kehrle

Thank you, Rob!
It seems that Kehrle never flew again after he got wounded on 4-1-1944. Apparently he survived the war! Quite unique, considering the fact that so many JG 1 pilots lost their lives. If anyone knows what exactly happened after 4/1/1944, let me know!

Fw. Josef Kehrle, born 12.09.1918, suffered "Becken und Kopfverletzung" on April 1st, 1944. Most likely did not fly again. Some 20 years ago a Josef Kehrle was stil living in the hometown of Fw. Josef Kehrle. Not anymore now. Most likely deceased.

Thank you, John! Most interesting information!
This proves for me that he was one of the few 8./JG 1 pilots that survived the war. Too bad he does not live anymore.
