Re: Unknown label from a Luftwaffe crash site

Finally we returned yesterday to this crash site. We find a label:

StL 131/5 C/R
Bauart: Gerat-Nr102-407 C/R
Werk-Nr 6392
Anforderz. Fl 204946
Hersteller: cpq

Some idea about this label?

We also find a part of engine with number:

601.329.002 C4 EZ2

Some idea?

We also find a part with a logo and print 3.35. Some idea about logo?

In the crash we not find any bullets, find some fragment of camera film and some part of wood painted of green colour.

Some idea about airplane????

Re: Unknown label from a Luftwaffe crash site

the FL204946 is machinegewehr-lafette for MG 131
so i think it will be a plane with heavy machineguns coz 131 is not a small one
hope this will help? cheers

Do you are sure that FL204946 is for MG131???? In the crash site we not find any bullets and this is the first crash site (we find 10) we not find bullets!

Re: Unknown label from a Luftwaffe crash site

hello salerno,
i have a book with mostly all the FL-LN numbers in , this book is dases on war time archieves
on the label its also stated CPQ
it stands for .RHEINMETALL BORSIG A G WERK GUBEN
this was a factory whom made those 131

why no amo??
_is that site been cleaned up compleetly maybe by others?
_ have you searched in an area around the main impact?
-was this a surface crash or did the plane went into the ground ?
_ could be making an areal reconesance?
_did you only found those parts from were you have showen pictures ?
cheers

Re: Unknown label from a Luftwaffe crash site

Hi!

100% that is the wreck of an Me109.

There is a 100% identifiable Me109 part from the wing cooler, in the photo that has all the small wreck parts.

DB601 part numbers were ALSO used on the DB605...so they were not specific only to the DB601.

The green painted wood is part of the radio rack...and the camera film suggest it was a reconnaissance plane. That would also explain the lack of ammo (the Me109 was basically stripped of ammo in the photo reconnaissance versions).

So with the Fern/Nah relay (FuG16Z), the MG131 component plate, and the 100% identifiable Me109 wreck part, you have an Me109 G wreck there.

The FuG16Z means it would have been a mid-war Me109...so I doubt a G14 or later...most likely a G5 or G6.

Mike
