Re: Photos 2-14-12

That Fi 156 Storch has an odd, high contrast camouflage pattern, but no theater marking. Anyone have any idea or info about that aircraft?

Thanks Ed.

Shot down b17 94th BG, 332nd BS, "Spare Parts" damaged and crashed near Ebrach, Germany Oct 14, 1943. 10 POW. MACR 790
or
30151 (381st BG, 532rd BS, *Spare Parts*) crash landed St Omer, France due to mechanical problem Mar 4, 1944. MACR 2910.

because its an early model B17i would say the first.

Re: Photos 2-14-12

It appears to be an 'L' on the tail, which is consistent with the 381st BG. The 94th BG was assigned the letter 'A' .

Spare Parts" I have this aircraft listed as 42-30151 B.17F-90-BO. It was assn to 532BS/381BG (Code VE-J) at Ridgewell on 15.06.43. It took part in the raid 8AF Mission No. 247 on 04.03.44 target Berlin however due to very bad weather condx the mission was abandoned and targets attacked at Bonn, Dusseldorf & Cologne - 264 planes despatched 186 bombed targets and 4 MIA. "Spare Parts" was missing on this raid and due to a mechanical fault it crashed at St Omer in France. 10POW's MACR2910. Pilot - 2nd Lt. Robert Somero (Keyes) dakota
