C.G. Sweeting book about Baur, Hans

Hello all,

is anyone out there who knows/owns the book: Hitler`s Personal Pilot: The Life and Times of Hans Baur, by C.G. Sweeting?
I wonder if this is just a translation of :
Flugkapitän Hans Baur: Ich flog Mächtige der Erde

Or is it a book with additional information on Baur and his Time.


Anyone out who knows both books ???

Hi Norbert,

They're two completely different books, both recommended.

Baur's autobiography was originally published in 1956 as "Ich flog Mächtige der Erde." A revised edition was published in 1971 as "Mit Mächtigen zwischen Himmel und Erde." In 1986, it appeared in English as "Hitler at my Side."

Sweeting published his biography of Baur in 2000, and it appears to be a well-researched effort. He provides 12 pages of footnotes (incl. source references) at the end of the book. In the preface, he credits several people, including Baur's widow (his 3rd wife, Centa), Adolf Galland, Von Hardesty, Walter Boyne, Karl Ries and Bo Widfeld, for their contributions.
