Uffz R. Dally 9./JG54 killed 3 July 1940

Hi guys

Was the above the pilot shot down by the air gunner aboard a 206 Squadron Hudson on 3 July 1940?

The gunner reported that the Bf109 at which he fired went down in flames near Assendelft (Holland) and its pilot baled out.

I understand that Uffz Dally was killed near Assendelft on this date.

Cheers
Brian

Re: Uffz R. Dally 9./JG54 killed 3 July 1940

Brian,

Two different incidents I believe.

2 July 1940: 3./JG21 Messerschmitt Bf109E-3. Crashed north-west of Soesterberg shortly after emergency take-off, cause unknown. FF Uffz Rudolf Dally killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.
I./JG21 transferred to Bergen-op-Zoom on this day and was re-designated III./JG54 three days later.

3 July 1940: 2./JG54 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4. Set alight by return fire from No.206 Squadron Hudson that bombed a factory 6 miles north of IJmuiden and crashed near 123 Dorpstraat, Assendelft, 4.20 a.m. Pilot baled out unhurt landing at Westzaan. Aircraft 100% write-off.
