234 Squadron loss on the 17th June 1942

Good morning to all!
I am looking for more details about the 234 Squadron's activities on the 17th June 1942, most particularly about the loss and dismise of Sergeant Derek Arthur Leslie Thomas (RAFVR 1382782), from that unit.

ANY information about aircraft serial, codes, and details of the incident would be welcomed.

Form 540:

"Two aircraft carried out practice beatup of A.A. posts. Sgt. Thomas and P/O Stokes crashed and were killed flying Magister a/c just outside aerodrome."

No a/c serial given in ORB. I guess that the "two aircrafts" are other a/c than the Magister.

MIKKEL,

Most welcomed information. THANK you so much! I knew it wasn't an operational loss...maybe an accident while training...Do you happen to know the date this particular airman joined 234 Squadron? I am interested on buying the ORB myself, so if I could narrow from the date he joined until his death, it would save me time and money as well. Thank you again for your most valuable help.
