Re: Günter Marsfelde 7./JG2

I write the history of the mission of April 30th, 1944.
This April 30th, 1944, Günter Marsfelde shot down B-17 of 92nd BG in my area in France.
I seek to contact this German pilot in order to collect his account on this combat or other memories of him. I seek also a photograph of him.
In May Günter Marsfelde will be 90 years old.
I did find in the German phone book, a Marsfelde family but I don't know if they are members of his family ?
Thank You for your invaluable help.
Christian

Re: Günter Marsfelde 7./JG2

Dear Peglar,
In this mission with Günter Marsfelde, there was:
Heinrich Corall - 8./JG2
Wolfgang Liebig - 7./JG2
Mayer (not Egon Mayer) - 9./JG2
I do have several books on the JG2 but I did never find photographs of these pilots ?

Re: Günter Marsfelde 7./JG2

Christian,

i've found a photgraphy of Marsfelde on page 154 in "Niddaer Geschichtsblätter, Heft 7", showing him with his comrades Raabe and Baum (published 2003 by Niddaer Heimatmuseum e.V., ISBN 3-9803915-6-6).
And i also checked the German telephone entry for You and only found a few entries, obviously belonging to one and the same family. Best possibility to find out if this is the right family You are looking for is to give it a try by a call.

Good Luck and Best Regards
Norbert

Re: Günter Marsfelde 7./JG2

Good Evening Norbert,

Thank You for your message.
Peglar sent to me this photograph this evening.
It is really well.
I will try to find information to write some pages on Günter Marsfelde and his comrades in April 1944.
This after midday, I found a Marsfelde family in Germany in German telephone. I was making them a letter when Peglar contacted me.
Thank You for all.

Kind Regards,
Christian

Re: Günter Marsfelde 7./JG2

@ peglar,

due to copyright-restrictions i somehow didn't dare to post that pic...
...nonetheless it might be anyway helpful for Christian.
We'll meet each other again at the "LBB" from time to time, where we both are (well known) members.

Cheers and see You
Norbert

Dear Norbert N.

Thanks for the nice note about copyright. This photograph was taken by four men. Three in front of the camera and one behind it. All four were pilots with JG 2 in Nidda at this Time. Together they flew the Bodenplatte Mission on 1. January 1945. One was shot down on 13. March 1945 and died. Three men survived the war. One died at age 60 in 1980. One died in the 2008th. One of them is still alive. The film with 16 photos of this winter day in Nidda with 16 photos has long been stored at the hosts until he came to development. Another Film from the same day was unfortunately lost. Here is another photo of this 16 with Baum and Marsfelde. Look at the Background of the Forest – a Fw 190 D 9.

Greetings

Peglar
