Garry Nowell's claim 13 JUNE 43 - England

Hello,

The ace Garry Nowell claimed a Bf109 on 13 June 43, the pilot becoming a PoW.

Any idea of the identity of the German pilot and the unit he was serving with?

Thanks
Phil

Re: Garry Nowell's claim 13 JUNE 43 - England

Hello Phil,

One possible matching loss is that of a recce Bf 109 G-4 Wnr. 14910 of 5.(F)/123, whose pilot Fw. Heinz Sieker is listed as missing after the aerial combat over the Channel in GQM returns, but I have no information whether the time of Sieker´s loss matches the time of Nowell´s claim (which is, by the way, listed as an Fw 190 both in Fighter Command Claims and Casualties and John Foreman´s RAF Fighter Command Victory Claims of World War Two, Part Two).

Hope this might help a little,

Ota

I think I interviewed Nowell about this and have details at home (have you seen my answer to your other query?)

Yes Chris, thanks for that.

As for Nowell's claim, the time reported in around 8.40.

Thanks for checking
Phil
