Re: Peter Stahl
Yeah, John, you got it. Notice how the Euro guys passed right by it. I guess they never heard of Snoopy's flying doghouse and his deadly air battles with the dreaded Red Baron!

Re: Peter Stahl
Well, there was for more that 40 years, a comic strip named Peanuts. The main character was Charlie Brown. The other characters were a bunch of neighborhood 10 year olds who philosophized about adult issues in a humorous way. Snoopy was Brown's very intelligent Beagle who fantasized about flying against the Red Baron. He was on his doghouse.
Great series and tons of books around. |

Re: Peter Stahl
Lt. Snoopy was routinely shot down in his Sopwith Camel over no-man's land and crawled his way through the barbed wire entanglements in a valiant struggle to make his way back to his own lines. Invariably, he would suddenly find himself in a French village tavern sipping root beer and singing patriotic World War One songs with a beautiful French waitress. Lt. Snoopy also shot down a lot of Albatross and other enemy planes but his score was never disclosed. But he never bested the Red Baron.

Re: Peter Stahl
Here's a link that might explain a bit further the whole "Snoopy and the Red Baron" thing to our non-North American friends:

Re: Peter Stahl
Well, well, well
I must had had a sheltered upbringing! That said, being a country lad, I found a more engaging interest in the local girls! We had haystacks in this part of the country and I didn't find time to read about Snoopy or Peanuts! Cheers Brian |
