Gunther Rall's 250th Aerial Victory Details - November 29, 1943

Hello Everyone!!

I was researching Gunther Rall's 250th victory on November 28, 1943 near South Zaporozhe, Russia and wanted to ask some assistance in researching the claim.

In Kurt Braatz's superb book "My Logbook" it states that his 250th aerial victory came on November 28th, 1943. Rall claimed a LAGG 5 destroyed on the aforementioned date which was his 250th victory.

The question I had was some particular details on the kill, most specifically the altitude where had shot down the LAGG 5 or any particular details regarding victory.

If anyone has any information they could pass along, I was graciously appreciate it. Thank you in advance!!

Mark,
In Prien's JFV 12/II his 250th victory is listed as a LaGG-3 at 08:27 south of Saporoshje (present day named Zaporizhia, Ukraine on the PlQu. map 34 Ost/581??). It actually was a Yak-1.

Mark,
Rall's leistungsbuch lists his 250th victory as a "Lagg" at quadrant 58174 ("S Saporoshje"), 2000 meter height. The Lagg's immediate fate was listed as "Aufschlagbrand".
Rall's witness to this victory was Lt. von Treuberg of Stab III/JG 52.

Russ,

I sure appreciate your insight sir. That helps out tremendously. Are you getting your information from Dr. Prien's books??

Thanks Mark

Nokose and Russ,

Thank you very much fellows for clearing up the fog on Rall's 250th kill. Do either of you show a victory in that time frame that was claimed as a LAGG 5? I am talking in November of 1943 when Rall was in his "hay day" period. I am helping research a combat that Rall shot down a LAGG 5 specifically and the respective date.

Man, any help you fellows could offer would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you,

Mark Copeland

Mark, the only La-5s that I saw for III/JG 52 were back in 28 Sep 43 but that doesn't mean anything because the LaGG and LaGG-3 was a catch all it seemed.
