Re: German Torpedo Aicraft In The Mediterranean

The following is taken from Chronology Of The War At Sea 1939 - 1945 by J. Rohwer and G. Hummelchen :-

In a torpedo attack by eight SM 79s of the Italian Gruppos 105, 130 and 132 and ten He 111s of I/KG 26 on 29 January 1943 off Bougie the AA Ship 'Pozarica' (4540 tons ex MacAndrews & Co cargo liner) and the destroyer 'Avon Vale' are torpedoed, the former after bing towed in to Bougie on 1 February is a total loss on 13 February when she capsized . Avon Vale was scrapped Sunderland UK on 15 May 1958.

I also have, but not from the above mentioned publication. 9 December 1942 RN Corvette 'Marigold' sunk off Algiers by Italian torpedo aircraft - 40 men lost.

According to this German site http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/chronik.htm#Z

Acute was damaged by bombers of KG 26, and Marigold was sunk by Italian torpedo planes, for Avon Vale and Podzarica the same details are given than in the post above.
