Karl-Georg Genth

Hello,
i just want to inform you, that my father Karl-Georg Genth, died July 30th at Luebeck, he became 91 years old. In WW2 he had been pilot of III JG 26 and survived being shot down with his FW 190 D9 on March 7th 1945 severely wounded. Nevertheless, he recovered and started a civil pilot career after the war. Amongst others he flew the Hawker Sea Fury for several years as a target tug for a private German company. He was always restless and full of ideas, hopefully, he found his final peace now.

Thomas

Dear Thomas,

My sincere condolences with the loss of your father. I know he visited the crashsite of his D-9 in the Netherlands. When was it, mid nineties?

Regards,

John Manrho.

Re: Karl-Georg Genth

Thank you John,

indeed it was exactly 40 years after he was shot down. We visited the crash place and the relicts that were found there at March 7th 1985. A real rare happening for a former Luftwaffe pilot. Attached a photo (hopefully not too big, let's see if it works ...)

Dear Thomas,

Having lost my WWII US Navy veteran father a year ago, I can feel your pain and sorrow, as well as your pride in your father’s service.

God rest his soul.

Re: Karl-Georg Genth

Dear Steve,

thank you for your support, it is great to find people and feel that there is somebody who understand the situation - and this is possible between former opponents as i see. I will keep my fathers remembering, maybe, there will be another website to keep him alive soon ...... I am thinking about it !

Regards
Thomas

Re: Karl-Georg Genth

Good evening Thomas,

sorry to hear the bad news.

I am fully with you and I trust that all aircraft enthusiasts are as well.

What a good idea to set up a new website: the former one was great and your father (and family!) deserves such memory.

Thank you for your constant support in aircraft aviation;

Best regards from Toulouse,

Gilles

Re: Karl-Georg Genth

Thank you Gilles and Sergio !

This shows, that the number of the last eyewitnesses of WW2 aviation getting more and more rare ...... hopefully they all wrote down their experiences or told their stories to somebody who will do it for them, as my father did.

Best regards and thank you again

Thomas
