Bombardment of Crotone A/F on 13 july 1943

Can anyone give me the essential detail of this bombardment (number of aircraft, ordnance dropped, hour of the dropping)? It should have been flown by 98th or 376th BG.

Thank you

Gianandrea

Gianandrea,

44th and 376th BGs went to Crotone (B-24s). 2nd and 301st went to Trapani (B-17s). 97th and 99th went to Catania (B-17s). 93rd went to Mileto (B-24).

Enjoy!

Frank.

Gianandrea,

44th, 93rd, and 389th BGs were from the 8th Air Force. They were sent to the MTO on a temporary basis at the beginning of July to be part of Tidal Wave/Ploesti. The 44th flew missions in the MTO from July 2 to Oct 1, 1943. The 389th flew missions from July 9 to Oct 1, 1943. The 93rd flew missions from Dec 1942 to Feb 43, then July to Aug, and again a few missions Sept/Oct 1943. The three trips of the 93rd got them nicknamed ``Ted's Traveling Circus''.

Enjoy!

Frank.
