Re: Photos 4-12

The first Bf 109 is Priller's Yellow 1. Note the yellow wing tips and the position of the underwing Balkenkreuz.

Re: Photos 4-12

Hi.

The first 190 was a D-9 damaged 30% at Varelbusch on March 10 1945. Guess it was found abandoned there and photographed. Unit was IV./J.G.6.

Regards,
Andreas

Re: Photos 4-12

Doesn't the Me109E in the battle of Britain museum have the same unit logo under the cockpit? Some sort of goat looking backwards.

That would normally be the TO aircraft for I./JG 51.

Re: Photos 4-12

Correct. The I./JG 51 emblem depicts a chamois standing on a mountain top and looking backwards.

Re: Photos 4-12

Hello,

Was the photo numbered 6621458415 (in Ed's second entery in this thread) taken in London ?
Reason for question is that there is the front end of a simularly camoflaged Spitfire next in the line up and wing tip of another British fighter on the 109's right. While in the distance what looks like Nelsons Columb.

Anyone ?

Alex
