more info about Ernst Nicolai KG50/KG30 etc
Hi Guy's , I am sorting out and filing my wehrpasses and other ID's. Every Wehrpass will be filed with a proper story about this guy. Now I am working on a guy called Ernst Nicolai. He served at many Geschwaders and staffels.
At the end he was at the Versuchsverband Ob.d.Luftwaffe and on 20.12.1943 MIA. Can anybody tell me exactly what this was. Was this a kind of a secret group or Geschwader and were and how he got missing?? His name is also linked to Luftwaffe code T9+KK , what does this code means ?? Was he also stationed in Eindhoven or another place in Holland ? Hi would appreciate if you can provide me all the info which is available especially where his geschwaders was stationed. I really appreciate all your help. |

Re: more info about Ernst Nicolai KG50/KG30 etc
T9+KK was aircraft "K" of 2./Versuchsverband Ob.d.L. A Ju 188 with those markings went missing on an operation from Istres in France on 23 March 1944. There is a book devoted to the Versuchsverband: http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/Bo...s%26an%3DSmith

Re: more info about Ernst Nicolai KG50/KG30 etc
T9+KK and its crew are listed as I/KG 200. It took off at from Istres at 2345 hrs on 23 Mar 44 and was shot down by Beaufighter of 153 Sqn. No mention of Nicolai on the crew list

Thanks so far.
If he flew for the KG200 why is this not mentioned in his wehrpass ? Is the KG200 that secret ?? I would appreciate more info.... :-). By the way can somebody checked if he was , when he was at General Wever , stationed in Holland ? |

Re: more info about Ernst Nicolai KG50/KG30 etc
No, KG 200 wasn't that secret. It did a variety of secret things (as well as some more standard tasks) but its existence was still mentioned in normal documentation. Elements of the Versuchsverband were absorbed into KG 200 when it was established in early 1944, so that's the connection. Since your man went missing at the end of 1943 he wasn't part of KG 200 but might well have been if he'd lived longer.

Re: more info about Ernst Nicolai KG50/KG30 etc
With I./KG 4 (20.07.40 - 16.08.40) he was based at Wittmundhafen, some missions during that time were flown by the unit from Soesterberg.
With 6./KG 4 he was based at Soesterberg until 30.03.41 when the unit left for Austria.
