You might be confusing (or combining) two separate units that were based in France: JG 2 and the training outfit, Ergänzungsjagdgruppe West.
Could you quote your original reference for the name you gave?

Hptm. Kurt Bühligen was Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 2 from 1.9.43 to 30.4.44. The JGr. West was a completely independent training unit. Most of the pilots from JG 2 came from the JGr. West to JG 2. From October 1940 to January 1942 exists the Ergänzungsgruppe JG 2. Consists of Ergänzungs-and Einsatzstaffel.
