April 29, 1945, fighter-bomber attack on Landshut, which unit?
On April 29, 1945, at around 8 o'clock in the morning, Landshut was attacked by fighter-bombers which dropped a couple of bombs on buildings in the inner city.
I wasn't able to identify the attacking Fighter Group yet. Can someone advise me where to look? Kind regards, Daniel |

Re: April 29, 1945, fighter-bomber attack on Landshut, which unit?
Certainly Not 8th AF which stood down after last mission on April 25.
That was an American line of advance so inclined to believe 9th AF best place to look

Re: April 29, 1945, fighter-bomber attack on Landshut, which unit?
It was the 371st FG.
I looked through the 9th AF Summary of Operations and so could narrow it down to two units, the 368th and 371st FG. Although the 368th was in the Landshut area that day, they had other targets. The Operations Report of the 371st FG was inconclusive. Yesterday I found however the Narrative Mission Reports of the individual Squadrons which provided much more detail. Kind regards, Daniel |
