Kampfgeschwader 54 – October 1941

Hello/Bonjour,

On a German Luftwaffe document from October 13, 1941 [Luftfottenkommando 3 - Führ. Abt. / Ia op 1 – Nr. 6158/41 g.Kdos.], under the following sections:

"Zur Wiederauffrischung im Bereich Luftflotte 3 liegende Verbände":

"Gen. Kdo. V. Fl. Korps"

we have among other units, some lines regarding K.G. 54:

"K.G. 54 – Orleans-Bricy
1 Gruppe Orleans-Bricy
1 Gruppe Tours
1 Gruppe Bourges
IV./K.G 54 Lechfeld"

I wondered if somebody could identify which Gruppe is on this or that airfield (excluding the IV. Gruppe which is clearly identified). Information/details about the length of their stay in France (...a unit which is fighting at that time on the Eastern Front) are the welcome.

Best regards,
Frederic

Frederic,

your source paper must be some kind of planning paper, which became overruled by new data the next month.

The Stab, I. and II./KG 54 became refreshed and reequipped with the Ju 88A-4 from mid November 1941 until January 1942 at Memmingen, Riem and Landsberg in Bavaria.

Re: Kampfgeschwader 54 – October 1941

Thank you Merlin, you have brought me a confirmation of what I supposed. My aim was a check of this information; as I work on the Bourges airfield during WWII for long time, the presence of one group of K.G. 54 there was more than doubtful.

Best regards,
Frederic
