Hi John,

after your "exact wording" - taken out from the Lukesch material and which may circle around here and there - I am quite sure, that these are only fragments. In Rehms material are much more details than what you quote from the Lukesch source.

Rehms memoirs have the title:

"Kampfgeschwader 76 (KG 76)"

and the subtitle, concerning the Ar 234 story:

"13th Chapter of a Sqadron Chronicle"

and not: KTB Einsatzstaffel III./KG 76.

I bet, the material in front of you hasn't 52 pages describing the KG 76/
Ar 234 story, splitted into 27 subchapters.

well, it is quite a coincidence then that you use the exact same wording in one of your previous post on the first night mission with Ar 234. Anyway, the quote I used came from "Seite 9" of a document called "Darstellung der Ereignisse" which is part of the KTB. I only have page 6 to 13 of that document because I was only interested in the timeframe December-Januar 1945. Beside that document there are many other documents like "Feindflugvoranmeldung", "Erfolgsmeldungen", "Karten" which contain additional information on particular missions.

In my opinion the only thing we are trying to verify here is does the document of Theo Rehm actually adds new information???. You must agree that if the wording is exact the same, the original source must be the same?

To prevent we are going nowhere with this discussion, may I suggest you make a scan of the page where the mission on 1.1.45 "Unternehmen Bodenplatte" is described? I will take care that I will scan the relative documents of the KTB concerning 1.1.45 and then we all can judge....

And Horst.... if the Theo Rehm document contains new information, than that would be a great find.

John, it is not exact the same wording. I think, Rehm had the task to write the chronicle and asked former comrades as Lukesch for corrections and/or supplements.

I add here a scan of Rehms title page, so you can compare if these documents are also in the material you have.

May I suggest you make a scan of the page/s in front of you, where the missions of 03/14/45 are described - to help TCO?

When you have the same material, the exact wording for this day should start with: "Ein Tag mit strahlend schönem Wetter und einem Himmel voller amerikanischer und englischer Jäger!"

... And this day ends with the story from an attack of a Tempest against FjFw Riemenspergers Ar 234...

that doesn't work.....as stated above I only have the pages and the material for the December 1944 - Januar 1945 timeframe, not that for March 1945. So, again, please scan the pages concerning 1.1.45 mission and then I will do the same.

One remark, do you think the memoirs of Theo Rehm were compiled after the war? The KTB documents and supplements (maps, mission reports, etc) are all contemporary documents. What I mean is that the "Erfolgsmeldung 1.1.45" was written ON 1.1.45. They are not Lukesch memories or corrections to Rehm's document.
