Walter Wolfrum book

Does anyone have the book "Walter Wolfrum - Unbekannte Pflicht - Meine Erinnerungen als Jagd- und kunstflieger 1923-2009 - Hrsg.: Peter Cronauer"? I am trying to get a better translation of part of the book. I ran across a part of it translated into Russian and would like to see what it stated before the translation.

Re: Walter Wolfrum book

Thank you Teresa. My German is very limited and it would take me far longer to work out the book into English with a translator program. I am just trying to get the original quote before it was translated into Russian. Having worked on translating Russian into English, I know that it changes to make it sound right to the reader. So translating German to Russian and back into English, I know from past attempts that it does not sound like the original.

Re: Walter Wolfrum book

Here is what I translated, so if this sounds right let me know if you recognize it:
"I was not a skilled shooter, in whose blood there would be a sense of correct anticipation, and which the fall would be at great distances and complex angles. My strong side was in fact, how I flew. As soon as I approached close enough to the enemy, he found himself in a difficult situation. Therefore, in any case I was looking for what is today called "close combat". The maneuvers, through which I, depending on the initial situation, could approach the enemy in such a way, that he filled my sight, soon absorbed into my blood and flesh. I fulfilled them, without hesitation. From a distance of 30-50 meters it was not difficult to aim so, that a burst hit the engine or the wing bases of the aircraft."

Re: Walter Wolfrum book

What do you need about him ? I have that book . Talking about him if you or someone else is familiar with him , is there any info on how he came on that famous group photo with St.Lt.Sidorov on his barracks in Krim all drinking wine together with no whatsoever SD or Gestapo involvement considering the tough Whermacht rules regarding Soviet pilots POW's a photo which also circulated through Abwehr to Goering and to NKVD through other sources .

Re: Walter Wolfrum book

Researcher111, Maybe you can help me with a sentence from the book concerning the 19 March 1944. Wolfrum has just attacked a Boston which has turned north with the engine smoking. The last few words in Russian, I can't get a clear translation. "I chased after him, but the weather was to bad, to pursue my victim until the moment, when I ?." If you could help with that sentence it would be a great help in clarifying what he meant. Contact me by PM concerning Sidorov.
