Losses at Rimini, Forli, Iesi LGs: March 1944

27 March: strafing by Kittyhawks of 3 Sqn RAAF of Rimini and Forli LGs resulted in claims of 11 'flamers', 2 'smokers' and 1 damaged. A/c were identified as Ju 52, Ju 88, Me 110/210, SM 79, Ca 135, BR 120, and one u/i. Attack made between 0650-0950.

30 March: strafing by Kittyhawks of 450 Sqn RAAF at Iesi LG led to claims of 1 'flamer' (identified as Mc 202), 2 s/e fighters 'smokers' and 1 four-engine a/c damaged. Attack was made between 1445-1715.

Would be interested to know of the actual a/c losses at these LGs. Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Bruce

You can view or download The DEFE3 series free on the National Archives website.

Bruce,

As per Nick's comment, thats exactly what I did.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find anything for the 30th March incident. However, that may just have been due to me not searching far enough ahead....

If you go to the Ghostbombers site you will find some useful information regarding DEFE3 together with a very useful file list for 1944 onwards.

In addition a sort of file finder can be found here covering all dates and DEFE3 files.
